Henry’s Ducks

Henry has wanted to be a farmer for the whole of his life and has always helped Simon with the cattle, sheep and poultry. He started his duck enterprise when he was 12 years old with four ducks. When the two female ducks started laying that spring we thought it would be fun to hatch some of the eggs in the incubator. We didn’t realise quite how prolific they would be and that year we ended up with around 80 Aylesburys and Indian Runners running around the farm!!
Whilst Henry (now 17) still has a core flock of pet ducks, these days he buys in the ducklings as day olds and then rears them on the farm, fitting it in around his budding agricultural contracting business and helping dad!

We enjoyed Henry’s ducks so much that we travel up from Bognor now to buy them. So full of flavour, tender, juicy, just completely yummy. It’s just not worth bothering with the ducks you get in supermarkets, and once you have eaten a Henry Duck, you won’t want to!

3.5kg duck was enough for 6 plus plenty left over for exceptional sandwich. You just cannot compare this to a supermarket duck, it as if they are 2 completely different creatures. Duck was steam roasted for 2 hrs, skin was crispy and not too fatty, meat was succulent and loaded with flavour.
Would have no hesitation in recommending and am already looking forward to our next Ashford Farm Duck.

We’ve had a Christmas duck from Henry two years running now. I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s the best meat we’ve ever had and by far the best duck. It falls apart, melts in your mouth and is so flavourful.
We do the following – 3-3.5kg duck, dry the skin, season, oven approx 1hr per kg and let rest for 45 minutes. Perfection.
Collection from the farm has been hassle free with clear instructions.
