Holiday Cottage
Poet’s Cottage is a luxury holiday cottage, located on our farm in the beautiful Hampshire countryside, just to the west of Petersfield. With 3 bedrooms, sleeping up to 6 people, and spacious living space, it is perfectly situated for walking and exploring the South Downs. The cottage is situated on a quiet lane directly under the Hampshire Hangers.
It is located on a working livestock farm with cattle, sheep and poultry. It has a spacious living/dining area and well-equipped kitchen. Upstairs is the stunning master bedroom with it’s huge gable end oak windows and 6ft bed. There is also a
twin bedroom and master bathroom with roll top Victorian style bath with waterfall taps. Downstairs is a third bedroom with kingsize bed and an ensuite walk in shower.
The garden is on two levels with BBQ and garden furniture. With off road parking, the cottage is perfectly situated for direct access into the famous Hampshire Hangers, with Edward Thomas’ Poet’s Stone on the Shoulder of Mutton, a short walk away. Up to 2 dogs are welcome to stay although please bear in mind the garden is unfenced.
Steep is a charming village, located a couple of miles west of Petersfield. Situated under the beautiful Hampshire Hangers, the cottage is perfectly situated for walking and cycling. The Hanger’s Way, Shipwrights’ Way and South Down’s Way are all nearby. Steep has 2 pubs – the renowned (spit and sawdust!) Harrow Inn with it’s hearty ploughman’s and pea and ham soup – and the Cricketers’ Inn, a gastro pub with a pizza oven! The nearby market town of Petersfield offers a wide range of shops, restaurants, cafes and a library. Day trips out include Portsmouth with its Historical Dockyard including HMS Victory, HMS Warrior and the Mary Rose, and Gunwharf, where there’s a multitude of restaurants, bars, a cinema and bowling, all overlooking the harbour. Also within an easy drive is Goodwood with its motor events – the Festival of Speed and Revival – and horseracing meetings including Glorious Goodwood. To the west is the cathedral city of Winchester and Jane Austen’s house at Chawton. For the children there is Marwell Zoo and Paulton’s Park – about a 45 minute drive away.
